On the night of 25 October 2007, a group of army personnel conducted house to house searches and beat up two innocent Jummas in the village of Master Para at Jore Maram area, about 12 kilometers north of Khagrachari town.

The army personnel also searched the house of Mr. Danta Tripura, a central committee member of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF).

However, the UPDF leader was not available at the time. The soldiers broke the wooden lockers in his house in the name of search for firearms and looted away cash Taka 1,500.

They also searched the houses of his father-in-law and wife’s elder brother Kajol Tripura and tortured them.

The villagers could not say which camp the army personnel came from. During raids and operations, the army personnel usually take off their name badges so as not to be identified by the common people.
